When you create an account, we collect:

Account data is securely stored using Supabase with industry-standard encryption and access controls.

Location Data

We request access to your device location to find nearby fuel and charging stations. Location data is:

Only collected when you explicitly grant permission
Used temporarily to search for stations
Never stored on our servers
Never shared with third parties

Usage Data & Savings Tracking

To help you track fuel savings and optimize your driving habits, we collect:

Fuel purchase history and pricing data
Route information and journey patterns
Station visit records and preferences
Calculated savings from using our service

This data is stored securely in your account and used solely to provide personalized savings insights and improve your experience.

Local Storage

We store the following data locally on your device:

Distance unit preference (km/miles)
Theme preference (light/dark mode)
Support banner dismissal status
Daily usage counters (searches and route plans)

This data never leaves your device and can be cleared by clearing browser data.

Membership Tiers

FuelScout offers two membership tiers:

Free Tier

Available to all registered users with the following limits:

5 station searches per day
3 route plans per day
Basic savings tracking
Current fuel prices

Pro Tier (£3.99/month or £43.89/year)

Paid subscription with enhanced features:

Unlimited area searches
Unlimited route planning
12-month price history
Export data to CSV/Excel
Ad-free experience
Save favourite routes
Full fill-up history access

We track subscription status, plan type, and billing period start/end dates to manage your membership and provide appropriate access to features.

Payment Information

For Pro subscriptions, payments are processed securely through Stripe. We store:

Stripe customer ID (to link your Stripe account)
Stripe subscription ID (to manage your subscription)
Subscription status (active, cancelled, past due)
Current billing period dates

What We Do NOT Store

We never store, process, or have access to:

Credit/debit card numbers
CVV/security codes
Bank account details
Full billing addresses

All payment card data is handled directly by Stripe and never touches our servers. Stripe is PCI-DSS Level 1 certified, the highest level of certification in the payments industry.

You can manage your subscription, update payment methods, or cancel at any time through the Stripe billing portal accessible from your account page.

How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information exclusively for application functionality:

Account creation, authentication, and management
Subscription and membership management
Processing payments through Stripe
Personalized fuel savings tracking and analytics
Provide accurate station search results based on your location
Calculate optimal routes for your journeys

Important: All data collected is used solely for the purposes of providing and improving the FuelScout application. We will never share, sell, or use your data for commercial purposes, advertising, or any other uses outside of application functionality.

Third-Party Services

FuelScout integrates with the following third-party services:

Supabase

Our primary database and authentication service. Handles secure user account creation, data storage, and authentication. All user data is encrypted and stored in compliance with GDPR and industry security standards.

Stripe

Our payment processor for Pro subscriptions. Stripe handles all payment card processing and is PCI-DSS Level 1 certified. We only receive confirmation of successful payments and subscription status - never your actual payment details. View Stripe's privacy policy at stripe.com/privacy.

OpenStreetMap & Nominatim

Used for geocoding addresses and displaying maps. Subject to OpenStreetMap's usage policies.

OpenRouteService

Powers our route planning feature. Your start/end locations are sent for route calculation.

Open Charge Map & UK Fuel Prices API

Provide station data and pricing information. We query these services with your location coordinates.

Each service has its own privacy policy. We recommend reviewing them if you have concerns. All third-party services are used solely for application functionality and data is never shared for commercial purposes.

Data Security

We take data security seriously and use industry-leading practices:

All connections use HTTPS encryption with TLS 1.3
User accounts and data are secured with Supabase's enterprise-grade infrastructure
Data is encrypted at rest and in transit
Row Level Security (RLS) ensures users can only access their own data
Regular security audits and penetration testing
Automated backups with secure retention policies
